2 cups flour
½ cup water
¼ cup milk
1 Tbls milk powder
1.5 tsp instant yeast
1 Tbls sugar
½ tsp salt
2 Tbls oil
1 Tbls melted butter
500 g ground beef
1 can chakalaka
½ cup chopped onions
Salt and pepper
½ cup shredded cheese
2 Tbls butter, melted
FOR DOUGH: Preheat oven to 180 degrees C. mix all the dry ingredients together. Make a hole in the center and mix in the wet ingredients. Mix till soft but not too sticky.
Knead dough for 10 minutes.
Place in a greased bowl. Leave to rise until double it’s size.
FOR FILLING: Cook onions in butter till soft. Add mice till browned. Adjust seasoning. Stir in the chakalaka. Cook for 15 minutes.
Stir in cheese. Remove from heat. Allow to cool.
Pinch dough down. Divide into 12 pieces. Gently roll out into 5 inch circles.
Spoon 🥄 into the centre some of the filling. Close up the circle and pinch the sides so the filling won’t leak out.
Continue with all 12 buns.
Brush with butter. Sprinkle with sesame seeds.
Place on prepared baking sheets.
Bake for 30-40 minutes, until golden brown and cooked.
Enjoy with a side of coleslaw.
