SPICY DURBAN MINCE AND BEAN CURRY

INGREDIENTS:
1 kg beef mince
2 cans baked beans in hot curry sauce
3 Tbls oil
1 onion, finely sliced
1 Tbls ginger/garlic paste
3 cinnamon sticks
2 bay leaves
1 star anise
2 green cardamom pods
4 cloves
1 tsp whole jeera
1 Tbls chili powder
1 tsp tumeric
1 tsp dhania powder
3 sprigs thyme, chopped
3 curry leaves
4 green chilies
2 medium tomatoes, grated
Salt to taste

 

METHOD:

Cook onion till golden. Add ginger/ garlic paste. Stir. Add the whole spices. Fry for 30 seconds.
Add the rest of the spices. Cook for another 30 seconds.
Add mice. Then the herbs.
Add chilies, tomatoes and salt. Mix well.
Cook for an hour. You may have to add water in the process.
Add the beans. Cook for 5 minutes.
Garnish with Garam masala and Dhania. 

Serve with hot rice, Roti or bread.
